Rolf has been racing boats and tuning engines for twenty years and won the World F4 Championship as a driver in '93. He has set several speed records, and was the first F4 to break the 100 mph barrier, with Per Taraldsen he broke the 100 knots barrier in F2 and on the 31th of September he set the current F2 record at 194.32 kmh. As a tuner he is responsible for several World Championship winning engines.
From the Nordic F2 Championship '98, the Arendal, Norway race. Rolf in the no.19 Valvoline and Favari Variatori sponsored boat is leading the sprint down to the first bouy. Rolf eventually finished fourth in the championship. Rolf is one of only a handful motorsport world champions to come from Norway, but is nevertheless relatively unknown in his home country. He is in fact far better known in Italy, the country of his long term sponsor FAVARI VARIATORI. His connections with Italy also includes the boatbuilder Primo Gardin, Rolf being the developer of the Gardin F4 boat in which he won the championship in '93. The Gardin is now the boat to have in this class.
Moving up to F2, Rolf had to look to the US for his choice of boat, a Seebold. The speed-records Rolf and his long term racing companion Per Taraldsen has been able to set is testament to the qualities of the boat, Rolf's engine preparation and his propellers. Lack of funding has meant that the amount of testing for the races has been far from ideal, and plans for next season are as yet undecided. Rolf is looking for more sponsors, so if anyone out there wants to see their name and logo on a front-runner, Rolf will be happy to receive a mail.
